ORIN FIRIS
Orin Firis is the main character of Crystal Heart. He lives in Syale Village with his parents and sister, Lyn. He's an 18-year-old optimistic, idealistic boy who sees the world as much better than it actually is. He's never been outside his village, so he's built up this perfect image of what adventures outside his hometown would be like. He's reckless and arrogant but has a good heart and pure intentions. He drags Lyn into adventures and puts them in unnecessary danger. He fights with his flaming, purple sword, Selmier, an ancient sword gifted to him by his parents on his 18th birthday.
Orin has traits commonly associated with a hero. He refuses to give up the fight even when victory seems impossible. Nothing is more important to him than protecting his friends and the people he cares about. He rushes into danger head on, not stopping to think of a plan. His overconfidence and carelessness get him into trouble. He lived in his village his whole life, so the outside world is fascinating to him. His traits include a strong will, courage, impatience, and optimism. One of Orin’s biggest strengths is his ability to keep hope alive for a better tomorrow. No matter how bad the situation gets, and it gets pretty bad, he keeps fighting. Orin’s philosophy is that as long as he’s still breathing, there’s still hope for him to make the world better. In other words, it’s not over until it’s over. He struggles with his inability to protect the ones he cares about and blames himself when they get hurt.
LILLIAN REDTAIL
Lillian is a 23-year-old amalgam. Her origin half is cat while her natura half is rose. Her weapon of choice for fire attacks is a flaming sword she manifests through her power. Curiously, she's able to use malice magic despite not being a dragon. She can use this power to summon a black scythe aptly named the Shadow Scythe.
Lillian has a shy personality that stems from traumatic events from her past. This results in her being scared to get close to people or trust them. Because of her status as an amalgam, she’s been treated like trash her whole life. She believes herself to be completely worthless and pathetic due to a deep self-hatred that developed within her. Orin becomes a close friend to Lillian, and their friendship becomes a core component of the show. Orin and Lillian balance each other out in their personalities. Orin is overconfident while Lillian has no confidence. Their friendship makes her very happy as kindness and compassion are rare luxuries for her.
ALEXANDER SHARPFANG
Alexander Sharpfang is a 37-year-old origin resembling a tiger. He’s the most wanted man in Livernia with a bounty containing more money than could be spent in multiple lifetimes. He seems to have some sort of connection to The Prophets of Joy and the king. He’s a longtime companion of Lillian and has been looking after her and traveling with her for years. He’s forced to steal to survive due to his origin and wanted status. Alexander’s weapon of choice is a spear. He has a pen attached to his necklace that turns into a spear when a button on it is pushed. He specializes in close range combat and, despite not having any magic, can hold his own against the strongest of magical opponents.
Alexander has an analytical and stoic personality, a man of few words. He prefers to solve things with logic and approach problems with a cool head. He’s a genius, which leads to a bit of a superiority complex. He cares about Lillian more than anything or anyone else in the world and would do anything to keep her safe or make her happy. He tends to lose his calm demeanor when Lillian is in danger.
Fluffy is a small, talking, quadruped giraffe and Alexander’s monster companion. He has two forms: his standard and his cellular forms. His standard form is what he usually looks like. His cellular form is used for combat and carrying people. It’s a larger and cooler version of himself. He’s a master of ice attacks and an absolute beast in combat. He also acts as Alexander’s bag as his stomach is seemingly a bottomless pit. He’s the all-in-one personal carrying case companion; just get comfortable with giraffe saliva drenching all your stuff. Just like Alexander, he seems to have some sort of connection to the Prophets of Joy and the king.
Despite Fluffy being a small, cute, and positive character, he’s much more than an animal sidekick. Fluffy’s very positive and pleasant to be around. His contrast in personality to Alexander causes their banter to be quite amusing for those who witness it. He’s a little bit of a trickster as he likes to undermine Alexander’s serious demeanor at every turn. He’s a master of snarky, witty remarks he uses to get the last word in any argument. He’s the group’s peacekeeper and does his best to make everyone happy.
FLUFFY
SYLVIA
Sylvia is a marigold and a thief who joins Orin on his journey. Despite her status as a natura, she resorts to crime for a living. The reason for this is a secret known only to her that she wouldn’t share for the world. As a marigold, she has access to light attacks. Her favorite attack is Light Shift, a teleportation spell that allows her to fake out her opponents and escape quickly. She also has her staff she uses to fly on and make quick getaways.
Sylvia is a weird and quirky woman. She often gets sidetracked easily and goes off on random tangents while speaking. She’ll even try to strike up conversations with opponents and won’t realize that no one is talking back to her. She won’t notice for a moment that she’s defeated everyone until she asks a question, and no one answers. She has a very literal way of thinking. For example, she’ll get confused as to why people aren’t talking about the temperature when someone says something is cool.
Lyn Firis is a dragon and the 15-year-old sister of Orin. She grew up with him in Syale Village. Her weapon of choice is a bladed whip she utilizes for ranged combat. She uses her wings to create distance between her and her opponent to strike from a safe distance. Her fire breath is the standard orange color compared to Orin’s purple flames. Her fighting style is more strategic and analytical compared to Orin’s aggressive style.
Lyn is driven by her own sense of right and wrong. She has a bad habit of seeing the world in black and white or good and evil. She’s not great at critical thinking and is gullible because of that. Based on what people she trusts tell her, she develops a sense of what’s just and unjust in the world. In other words, she’s too trusting. Her gullibility and her taking information at face value can be attributed to her living her whole life in Syale Village. In contrast to Orin, she’s much more cautious. She tries to convince him not to engage in reckless activities but is always unsuccessful. She ends up having to save him from the dangers he creates for himself and laments the fact that Orin is actually older than her.
LYN FIRIS
Stormi Thunderclaw is the 21-year-old princess of Sun City and right hand to the king of Livernia. She’s also the leader and highest-ranking member of the Livernian army. She has an intense hatred for origins that goes beyond the feelings of an average natura. She uses dual electric swords that glow green and have electricity bursting out of them. In addition to using the swords to slash, she is able to slam her swords into the ground to send shockwaves out at her enemies. She is also able to shoot electricity out of the swords to hit far away opponents.
Stormi does her best to act tough, but she really isn’t threatening in the slightest. Despite her status as the leader of the Livernian army and a powerful warrior, people don’t tend to respect her. Her mother, the queen of Sun City, treats her like a child. The general consensus among citizens is that she’s a kid who has no idea what she’s doing. She gets embarrassed quite easily. She acts like she doesn’t care about her friends, but she constantly does everything she can to help them and make them happy. In short, she’s a tsundere.
STORMI THUNDERCLAW
THE CELESTICS
The Celestics are a cult of ethereal beings who are hunting Orin. They refer to him as the Vessel of Malice and seem to know everything about him. They worship the God of Death, Sarius, by sacrificing dragons and drinking their liquified remains.
Veris: Veris is the charismatic leader of the cult. He’s the serious one in the group who keeps his more eccentric companions in check. He’s an imposing figure who speaks eloquently and with passion that resonates with his followers. He cares deeply about his people.
Andromeda: Andromeda is Veris’s right hand and a bit on the crazier side. She enjoys making her enemies suffer by tormenting them with emotional and physical pain before slowly ripping them to shreds. She’s got a short temper and is beyond dedicated to the cult.
Comet: Comet is a high-ranking member of the cult and the comic relief of the group. He says some pretty out of pocket stuff that creeps even Andromeda out. He’s also impressed easily and thinks Veris and Andromeda are the coolest people ever. He’s somehow simultaneously the smartest and dumbest person in the room. He’s incredibly quick witted while still getting confused by the simplest and most self-explanatory of orders.
